Todd Jones started ListenNext because credits are precious.
He's been listening for over a decade. Sci-fi and thriller mostly, plus historical fiction and narrative nonfiction when something good shows up. The reverse problem is what got him started: too many credits spent on books the narrator couldn't carry. The right narrator is the difference between twelve hours of immersion and twelve hours of mild regret.
He doesn't come from publishing or narration. ListenNext is one listener's perspective: someone who buys an audiobook expecting the narrator will make the next twelve hours worth it, and who has been wrong often enough to know the obvious pick isn't always the right one.
Every list here gets cut down until each pick can survive two questions: does the book belong, and does the narrator earn the twelve hours.
